A 40 minute presentation explaining what mediation is, how it works and how families can access this, with examples of the impact this has had for families provided by an FMC accredited mediator. Q&A to follow.

Jan Coulton is an FMCA mediator, PPC and director of the Family Mediation Council. Jan is a recognised name in the field of mediation and is an experienced trainer approved by the Family Mediation Council. It is her extensive knowledge of the subject that has gained her invitations to lecture and present at conferences worldwide. She also writes and delivers bespoke training courses and provides Professional Practice Consultancy (PPC) to professional mediators who are accredited or working towards accreditation. Nationally recognised for her 30 years of work in family mediation, Jan has received the National Mediation Awards two years running. She has a solid legal background, having qualified as a solicitor in 1980. Jan is a partner at Ataraxy Family Mediation, delivering FMC approved mediation courses. |

Helen Anthony is the Chief Executive Officer of the FMC. Helen is a non-practising solicitor, and has a background in family law and policy development. Helen has worked on out of court dispute resolution issues in personal injury, defamation and other civil law contexts, and has worked for the Family Mediation Council for over ten years. |
