Tender Opportunity: Local Trust – deadline 28/09/2020

Local Trust was established in 2012 to deliver Big Local, a National Lottery Community Fund-funded programme which committed £1m each to 150 neighbourhoods across England to make a lasting positive difference in their communities. At the heart of Big Local is a vision of empowered, resilient, dynamic, asset-rich communities making their own decisions on what is best for their area. Local Trust, our partners and people in Big Local areas are passionate about what we are doing and we believe that Big Local has the potential to support residents to increase their skills and confidence and make a lasting difference to where they live while bringing them together to make their areas even better places in which to live. However we know that people don’t always agree and that it’s normal for groups to experience disagreement and conflict. Therefore, we are interested in working with organisations that can support the resolution of disputes and conflict between people and groups in Big Local areas.

Please see full details in the tender link here.

The Healthy Relationship Transitions (HeaRT) Project – The University of Exeter

This research is part of a larger project looking at healthy transitions into and out of relationships of various kinds across the lifecourse. Many young people face the transition to post-separation family life following the breakdown of their parents’ relationship. Child-inclusive mediation (CIM) has been shown to ameliorate the negative effects of parental separation on children by reducing parental conflict, yet in the UK CIM uptake is currently low and there has been little research on CIM in this jurisdiction.

We are an experienced interdisciplinary team from the University of Exeter with recognised expertise in family law and policy, medicine and education.

We have mediators with a well-established CIM practice for interview, but we need assistance from the mediation community to:

1. Help us to recruit parents to interview. Interviews are by telephone and last around 45-60 minutes. Parents interviewed receive a £20 Amazon voucher.

2. Help us to recruit young people to interview. Interviews are by telephone or face to face and last around 45 minutes. Young people interviewed receive a £15 Amazon voucher.

If you are willing to help with recruitment, we will send you a draft email and further information about the project to forward to clients as appropriate. All contact after that is between the research team and the parents so administration for you is relatively limited.

If you would like further information please see here or contact: Jan Ewing, Law School, University of Exeter, tel: 07971008931, email J.Ewing@exeter.ac.uk
